Portadown Branch & Club of the Royal British Legion

The Portadown Branch and Club of The Royal British Legion was formed in 1921 in Edward Street, Portadown. After moving several times it became resident at it’s present location.

Donate OnlineThe branch and club have had to take up temporary premises on two occasions in 1982 and 1993 because Brand New tickets of bombings and due to these most the old records of the branch and club have been lost.

In the year 2001 the Branch held a Tattoo in Portadown to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of it’s formation. Representatives from Headquarters,seo sydney Scotland, Southern Ireland and branches throughout Northern Ireland took part in a parade through Portadown. Also taking part were Youth Organisations and Emergency Services, followed by a cavalcade of Vintage and Modern coldplay tickets Vehicles. Several Massed Bands from all counties in Northern Ireland headed these different sections. After displays from the various kinky boots tickets Services and Organisations the evening finished with a Fireworks Display under the guidance of the Armed Forces.

In 2002 The Royal British Legion had the Freedom of the Borough of Craigavon conferred on it. The Mayor in that year Alderman Samuel Gardiner handed over the Scroll to Mr. John Hawthornthwaite, National Vice-Chairman. The Mayor aladdin tickets and Chief Executive of the Borough presented Commemorative Medals to all members who were on parade. Afterwards the members paraded through Lurgan before returning to Brownlow House. The Borough Council godaddy hosting then entertained the Officers and V.I.P. guests to a meal in the Town Hall Lurgan and the Members to a meal in the Portadown, Lurgan and Donaghcloney Branch premises.

Branch Information

The branch has a forward thinking committee and has now commenced this website, which will be updated on a regular basis giving details of coming events.

The club is open from 10 am each morning with the bar opening from 11.30 am Monday to Saturday and 12.30 on Sunday, and a warm welcome is extended to Royal British Legion members, their guests and serving members of the armed forces from all around the world.

The Portadown Branch of The Royal British Legion continue to seek suitable new members so why not call round to the club or fill in the online provided on this site. Please remember that even though you may not have been in the Armed Forces it doesn't disqualify you from joining the Royal British Legion.


In 2004 Portadown Branch won the Haig Cup, which is presented to a branch that shows progress and efficiency.
This is the first time this cup has been in Northern Ireland in about 30 years.

In 2003 the annual Poppy Appeal was Portadown's largest.
The Portadown branch of the Royal British Legion set its sights on a £30,000 target for the years Poppy Appeal. More>>

In 2001/ 2002, Portadown Branch has won the Efficiency Cup (Branches with Clubs).
This being for the fifth time, the first being in 1934.

The Branch also won the W. R. Knox Cup for membership.
Having had the largest increase in membership during the year 2001/2002 for branches with clubs. This is the first occasion that the Branch has won this Trophy.
